Fixed priority scheduling of tasks with arbitrary precedence constraints in distributed hard real-time systems

چکیده
This paper considers the schedulability analysis of real-time distributed applications where tasks may present arbitrary precedence relations. It is assumed that tasks are periodic or sporadic and dynamically released. They have fixed priorities and hard end-to-end deadlines that are equal to or less than the respective period. We develop a method to transform arbitrary precedence relations into release jitter. By eliminating all precedence relations in the task set one can apply any available schedulability test that is valid for independent task sets. that the successor task will start its execution only after the predecessor is finished. This technique is sometimes called "static release of tasks" [14].

Exploiting Precedence Relations in the Schedulability Analysis of Distributed Real-Time Systems
In this paper we present improved techniques for the schedulability analysis of tasks with precedence relations in multiprocessor and distributed systems, scheduled under a preemptive fixed priority scheduler. Recently developed techniques, based on the analysis of tasks with dynamic offsets, take into account the precedence relations between tasks only indirectly, through terms iteratively est...

In this paper, a due date assignment scheduling problem with precedence constraints and controllable processing times in uncertain environment is investigated, in which the basic processing time of each job is assumed to be the symmetric trapezoidal fuzzy number, and the linear resource consumption function is used. The objective is to minimize the crisp possibilistic mean (or expected) value of...
متن کاملExact best-case response time analysis of real-time tasks under fixed-priority pre-emptive scheduling for arbitrary deadlines
In this paper, we present a conjecture for exact best-case response times of periodic released, independent real-time tasks with arbitrary deadlines that are scheduled by means of fixed-priority pre-emptive scheduling (FPPS). We illustrate the analysis by means of an example. Apart from having a value on its own whenever timing constraints include lower bounds on response times of a system to e...
متن کاملExecution times∗and execution jitter analysis of real-time tasks under fixed-priority pre-emptive scheduling
In this paper, we present worst-case and best-case execution times and (absolute) execution jitter analysis of independent, periodically activated, hard real-time tasks that are executed on a single processor under fixed-priority pre-emptive scheduling (FPPS), arbitrary phasing, (absolute) activation jitter, and deadlines at most equal to (worst-case) periods minus activation jitter. We prove t...
متن کاملA Generic Approach to Schedulability Analysis of Real-Time Tasks
In off-line schedulability tests for real time systems, tasks are usually assumed to be periodic, i.e. they are released with fixed rates. To relax the assumption of complete knowledge on arrival times, we propose to use timed automata to describe task arrival patterns. In a recent work, it is shown that for fixed priority scheduling strategy and tasks with only timing constraints (i.e. executi...
